The world is all made up of energy.
This idea is what Einstein's theory of special relativity is about; that we are not solid objects but masses of energy presented as objects.
If we are energy, does that mean we also put energy into the world? Absolutely!
Bruce D. Schneider, the founder of iPEC, says there are two types of energy.
Catabolic energy, which is destructive, draining, or resisting and works against the person.
Anabolic energy, which is constructive, expanding, fueling, and creative, and works for a person.
So, why does this matter?
In a business setting, the shift toward anabolic energy allows people to access creativity and intuition more quickly, rather than resorting to anger, resentment, and other low-level responses that can sap productivity and create division across teams.
However, we are not catabolic, anabolic, or level 1 or Level 5 people. We are all of this because the energy we experience fluctuates throughout the day and inside situations.
And, because of our attitude and how we interpret our life experiences, we wind up experiencing the same type of energy repeatedly. These perpetual experiences can lead us to label ourselves or someone as a certain level or type of energy when, in reality, they are just experiencing that level at that moment. It does not define them.
So, where are you right now?
Are you experiencing anabolic energy? Or do you feel you are stuck in a perpetual catabolic energy state?
If you are stuck in a catabolic state, just having an awareness and ability to name it can help you move forward.
